This little cutie is "our Dotje"

I imported her from Italy when she was 8 weeks old from breeders mr and mrsMorara. I had the honour to meet them for the first time a few years ago and I’m very proud to now have one of their Lagotti.

She was brought by car to Holland by Marleen, a Belgium friend of mine who is also involved in the Lagotti world and very fortunately a true Italian holiday person. Thank you Marleen for all your help!

Dot is easily accepted by all other dogs. Most Lagotti are, but Dotje has an extra “likable doggy thing” which is ideal as she is shared by a friend (Siets) and my self. Most often she lives with Siets and her +/- 10 large dogs (Leonbgergers and Estrela Mountain dogs), cats, goats, donkeys, chickens etc. Every 2 months or so Dotje comes and live with us, a small family of 3 Lagotti and 1 Estrela. This is always a feast and everyone is so pleased to see Dotje again!

Her name is English. It was thought of because of the white spot on her head being a "dot". But in Dutch a Dotje is als something that is very cute so her name has unwittingly a double meaning.

She could be a great therapy dog loving everyone she meets, children being her definite favourite. She has such a charming ability to totally relax and sleep in the arms of people she trusts while she is lovingly cuddled.

She is very in tuned to peoples feelings. This is what Lagotti do so well and has its advantages and disadvantages. Itsan excellent tip to follow when owning a Lagotti “a confident owner makes a confident Lagotto”.

I'm glad to say my Lagotti are a happy bunch of girls :-)

Dotje has a great talent. She is an extraordinarily good escape artist when it comes to escaping from Siet's very large grounds. All fenced off with an electric wire on the bottom was enough to keep all the Leonbergers and Estrelas in. But when Dot came and grew up an extra high wire had to be installed. Well even this isn't enough to keep her from doing her social duties. She is often brought back home by the kind next door lady after she has been greeted a very warm "good morning" by Dotje. Or Dotje is running in a paddock with 2 huge Belgium horses. All in a days work for keeping good neighborly contacts according to Dot.

I think this shows great intelligence and kind social skills!

Dotje dose not run away she merely thinks this is her born duty.

In my small "normal standard Dutch garden" Dotje never escapes so the story isn't as bad as it sounds. She is a very obedient girl who will always come back when called.

Dotje loves life but hates shows. When we are on walks she runs like the wind and is so happy. But when she is in a show ring she can stand like a bag of potatoes :-D. So while she dose get great reports from shows she will never score the top show results. It's a pity. But I don't really mind as I know she is such a lovely built girl with a super character so we don't need lots of reports to remind me of this.
