Vaglie… she’s our super turbo girl. You wont see this much temperament too often.

When she is off the leash Vaglie never seems to walk but runs. She has such a lust for life and doesn’t want miss any of it. What a “go, go, go” attitude!!!

She can play like a cat keeping herself very happy rolling around on her back, toy held between her paws while “grunting” with pleasure. Throwing them in the air and looking totally surprise to see it land in another area of the room and pouncing on it with renewed enthusiasm giving onlookers a lot of watching pleasure. It can be hazardous when the toy is a bone and throw around.

Vaglie is a “all rounder”. No mater what the task she will tackle it head on and excel in it. She is very easy to train (like all Lagotti but with an extra enthusiasm).

But she is not a dog for the beginner as her strong temperament will always keep you on your toes. She always tests how far she can go and needs a consequent and strict hand to remind her that life isn’t only fun but also has some rules that need to be followed.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a busy dog. But at the same time I have to say she is one of the easiest dogs I have. She can keep herself busy and learns very quickly.

All my girls are always where I am, but of course again Vaglie is just a little more “there”. If I go upstairs Tieka and Zanna will wait a few minutes before following as they know I will usually come back down again within a few minutes. But like a shadow “madam Vaglie” is nearly always with me. She is not annoying; she is just there and lays her self down to wait for my next move. (I never have to go to the toilet alone ;-) )

All my Lagotti are lap dogs but Vaglie is the best when watching horror movies or anything that requires a dog that doesn’t mind a hard squeeze when things get too scary. If things get super scary and I sit all cramped up dear Vaglie will lay in any position on top of me to keep me safe. She’s the best “life saver lap dog”.

I imported Vaglie from Italy in 2004. She was breed by Ermanno Zavagli of the “del Ginestreto kennel”. She was just over 3 months old when I went to pick her in Italy. A trip I won’t forget in a hurry, not only because I finally got to meet Vaglie but also because we had so much fun in Italy. This included an invitation to go on a truffle hunting competition and watched how the experts and there dogs went to work. Afterwards the Italian Lagotto club even let us join in the festive meal and of course wine. They sure know how to organise such things! Ermanno Zavaglie was a wonderful host making us feel very at home. Oh my, when I think back to this time it gives me such a warm feeling. It was such an honour to be there.

Because Vaglie was “older” when she came to us she can sometimes act a little shy with strangers but she soon recovers and is back to her usual “I want to be patted too” pushy self. We affectionately call her “our bulldozer”

Vaglie is the “nurse and cleaning lady” of the family. Any eyes and ears needing attention? Just leave it to Vaglie to clean them up! Any dog has a scratch or sore? No problem nurse Vaglie to the rescue! She has proved to be a great substitute mum. When mama Zanna was having a break from her pups “nanny Vaglie” stepped in to take care of things.

Her love is just being with her family, her hate is the vacuum cleaner when turned on.
